About Korbi Kay
Hi, I’m Korbi Kay, and I’m here to kick your butt in the sweetest way. You’ll hate me today, love me tomorrow.
After earning my BA in psychology at the University of Oregon (go Ducks!), I was determined to become a psychologist.
My primary passion is creative writing, and I figured this was a practical profession that could pay the bills and also support my scribbling habit. I’m passionate about helping people feel better, and wanted to help others in the way that therapists helped me while I was growing up.
I moved to Los Angeles to pursue creative endeavors while I procrastinated on graduate school. I studied sketch comedy, screenwriting; survived UCB improv; modeled and further developed my photography skills, spent too much money indulging in LA’s vegan food, broke down during emotional trigger acting classes, broke up too many times during the few of the relationships I miraculously developed through serial dating (hey, I tried), and finally had a break-through.
Over 5 years of experience teaching group classes, as well as training private clients both from studios as well as their homes.
So, I earned my Pilates, yoga, HIIT, and NASM personal trainer certification.
After volunteering for the Suicide Hotline for a year, I realized that psychology was not the right industry for me. I still wanted to make others feel better, but instead of a clinical setting, I chose the other place that helped me while growing up: an athletic one.
My goal is to make others feel and look their best. I don’t believe in “perfection” nor shame: I am a strong advocate of self-compassion. We’re all in this together.
